I am planning on making candles for my sisters baby shower for party favors. I am going to use empty baby food jars and fill them. I just dont know where to start. I know it will take a while to write, but please help me out!!
This is for anybody who makes candles, either for a business or a hobby. I want to start making candles at home. I have a few questions about this, sorry if I sound stupid: Can you use the same pouring pot for many different candles with different scents and colors? If so, how would you get all the wax from each candle out of the pot to start another one without scraping the pot for hours? Do you HAVE to use a scale? Can anybody give me some tips or suggestions about scents, techniques, etc.? Also, I don't know if somebody local to where I live has came up with this, but I have a candle that is called "Butt Naked"! I don't know if somebody has changed the name of this scent or made up their own. Would anybody know what scents are in this candle? I would really appreciate any advice, instructions, or anything anybody could tell me about candle making at home. Gift ideas or anything. Thanks!
Do you think candle making is not for boys. This boy is 13 years old. Hey !!! Thanks for the help everyone. I have posted another question. Go answer it please. It is for names of a candle store.
I just bought a candle making kit and was wondering where the cheapest place to buy supplies will be when I need more. It seems that scent is about $2.00-$4.00 per ounce. Soy wax is $3.00 lb. If anyone knows where to get this stuff cheaper please let me know. I would also be willing to use paraffin or other kinds of wax if it is cheaper. Buying in bulk is an option but only if the savings are substantial.
What is a good website to buy cheap candle making supplies?
I'm new to candle-making and just ordered a bunch of supplies from out-of-state, and didn't realize how expensive it was going to be for shipping and handling! I would like to find somewhere local that I can buy my supplies without having to pay those nasty shipping and handling fees. If anybody has any ideas, let me know!
does anyone know if there are stores around atlanta, ga that carry soy candle wax and related products to make your own soy candles? i want to avoid shipping costs and buy in stores, in possible. please advise if you know. thanks!

Do you know a good teach-yourself book / website about candle making for beginners with advice on how to start a candle making business & instructions on sourcing materials / supplies?
I want to take up the candle making hobby. One of the people in my family used to do it, so we already have some materials in my house and a guide book. The person that used to do it has not done it in forever and really does not remember anyhting after 4-5 years, and no one in my family really knows how to do it. And from what I have seen when I tried it out is that it appears to be a very steep learning curve. So if I could get some instructions, maybe some supplies I need or some tips that would be great :) Thank you a bunch!
This is to anybody who makes candles. I wanted to know what wax to use that does not require using additives or acids or anything. A wax for container candles. I don't know if there is a wax that you melt and all you have to add is the dye for color and scent, that's it. That's the kind of wax I want to use, if it will make good quality candles. Also, how much wax do you melt and how much dye and scent do you add to the wax?? I found a site that gives instructions for making container candles but it doesn't tell how much stuff to use. Oh, and does anybody know if Michael's craft store sells everything you need to make candles??Also, are their prices high?? I'd like to know before I drive an hour to my nearest Michael's. Sorry if I sound stupid asking these questions! I want to start making candles at home and I want to know what to do and use, so that I don't mess up anything and waste a whole lot of supplies. I don't have that much money to spend and especially blow it, you know?! Any info about supplies will help! Thanks! Spencer Scott, you were no help. No thanks for being weird and goofy for saying something stupid that has NOTHING to do with my question! Why'd you even take the time to type that??

advertising, etc.? How do you go about asking other small businesses if they will sell your products? Do you offer profit sharing? Thanks. Yes, I actually did run across that article this morning. I guess it's a good starting point til I can achieve enough income (and allowance from my husband. He prefers I work from home.) to start making them myself. Something to keep in consideration.
This is like a side thing, to make a little extra money. How would we get our products out there, and be noticed without going DEEP "in the hole" trying to get started?
interested in doing candle making course, but I am working so prefer saturday sunday or late evening classes.
am so far coming up with nothing. Thanks.
Hey guys any of you know where i can learn advance candle making (carved candles) in Chennai. Its not available online
But it was much more then that, it not only had candle and soap making stuff (the bases, scents, colors, mica) but it had shampoo, conditioner, bath fizzy's, and other bath things. It also had the containers they went in, jars, bottles, shrink wrap, things like that. Plus it had a forum. It was such a wonderful place, and I don't remember why I took it out of my favorites, but I really need to find it, if someone knows where I'm talking about, please, tell me! Thanks you guys so much!
Tips on making BOLD scented soy candles.Any help would be appreciated.,
All I'm trying to do is get imaginary points that I can't use for anything. I don't want to spend any time on an answer, nor do I really care about the potential of this forum, whether it be for personal or social growth. In fact I spend as little time as I can trying to embetter myself or others. I will, however, jot down something witty or smart-*** without any regard for myself or others, so long as I don't need to spend to much energy on it. Furthermore, I will intentionally put misleading and/or misguided statements into an answer for the pure satisfaction of knowing that a small percentage of peoplewill listen to my advise, and will suffer great peril. When it comes to questions, I rarely ask them. They take away from my imaginary point pool that I so dearly lust after. However, in the rare occasion that I DO ask a question, it is usuially one born of sloth, as I am too lazy to search for my answer in one of the many free search engines available to me. I may also ask a question that has no real purpose other than to offend and/or hurt any person, no matter how young and impressionable they may be. I take much pride in the number of my imaginary points, and will inflate the number by 300%, for any reason I deem necessary. Mostly, I would just love to blow out your candle to make mine glow brighter, if you know what I mean. Did I miss anything?
I used to make candles when I was a kid at the play centre I used to go to. I want to start making them again - what kind of shops sell the materials for making candles? standard wax candles
When making carved candles you have to dip the mold candle many times into different colored wax. My question what is the thing called that hold the wax. It looks like a box with 6 buckets in it. I am sorry my description is not very good but i do not know how else to describe it. Thank you in advance for all answers =)

I am looking for a Buddha candle holder I saw at Target. It holds a pillar candle and cost 49.99. It was the round Buddha but not smiling. A grey stone color. I have not been able to find it since.
The vase is a little taller than the candle and the candle is not touching the sides of the vase. Ok, what can i put the candle in if i don't have a glass vase?
It's a little metal plate you put pillar candles on so they don't drip all over

In case you don't know what I'm talking about here is a link to a picture..it's not the same fragrance but I don't think that really makes a difference..Please help if you can..thxx =D forgot the link.. http://www.perfumery-gifts.com/images/burke/oil.jpg

I was asking if anybody knew how to make candles out of crayons and wax without having the trouble of going to the hobby store. I was thinking about using a mug as a mold, but I don't know if that is any good. I don't know how to melt the wax though, but I already have the wicks. Anybody know what to do?
